Opaque ProjectorsOpaque projectors use a shinning light and mirrors of prisms to shine the object onto the viewing screen, The opaque projector was the predecessor to the overhead projector. The opaque projector typically is used to project book pages and leaves and mineral specimens. The opaque projector is hardly used very much anymore for a number of different reasons. One of the main reasons is the bulbs get real hot and can do damage to the object it is shining on. This is one of the main reasons people really don't use them much anymore. Opaque projectors came before the overhead projector which still is used in schools but besides that use is becoming very limited. The opaque projectors and the overhead projectors are getting the same fate as alot of things because of the computer. Presentations through computers can show so much more that the opaque projector is really something people don't even consider anymore. Used opaque projectors are available probably for very cheap prices nowadays. The use of these projectors are so limited many people are trying to get rid of them as soon as possible. They are basically a dinosaur in the classroom and have very little use anymore. |

The future of the opaque projectors is really non-existent unless they find a need for them. People are embracing newer technology so they will go into a big pile in the corner probably. Some college still use the opaque projectors and I'm sure they will start using less of them as the budget allows then to update what they are using. The only real reason probably to use them is if you already have them. They have very limited use compared other things on the market to I can see any reason to hang on to them. Though at one time they were real popular and was like in every classroom. You can ask may adults about the opaque projector and they will be able to tell you many different stories about it. I think everyone has seen one used or even help set one up themselves. As weird as it may seem that is something people will remember forever. Just like other things out with the old and in with the new. The opaque projectors are getting less and less use in classroom and business application so it's no surprise that very few still exist. |
